SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP-BW)

Client: A SAP Business Warehouse client.

SAP BW is a Business Warehouse (a.k.a. Data or Information Warehouse) solution that works in tandem with SAP R/3 (the primary data source). Our client needed to upgrade their North American (US and Canada) Business Warehouse since their current release could no longer be supported by the Vendor. Also they wanted to migrate to a global BW encompassing North America, Europe, Asia and South Pacific. The client required an experienced Project Manager (PM) that understood the relationship between the business, development and infrastructure areas and could deliver an international solution. Delivery of this project would place all financial reporting on a common environment.

With the help of Enterprise Iron Solutions, the client wanted to accomplish the following:

  • Upgrade all North American InfoCubes from SAP BW v2.1 to v3.5.
  • Expand the Global Template to include the North America defined InfoCubes
  • Extract, Transform, Transfer and Load (ETTL) North American data onto the Global Template

Enterprise Iron recruited a PM with the proven leadership skills to organize this global work effort. We engaged with the client using proven Project Management Institute (PMI) methodologies. A Project Team was quickly established with resources predominately in the US (Business and Developers), Canada (Business), UK (Infrastructure) and Australia (Developers). Requirements and deliverables were defined; then turned into a Plan using MS Project. A monthly Steering Committee meeting was established. Weekly Team meetings were established. Issues and Risks are documented and tracked in the client’s eRoom.

  • Client was very satisfied with the energy and timeliness inwhich we engaged with them.
  • Our management team hit the ground running and the client is extremely satisfied with the efficiency, thoroughness and control that has been shown.
  • Project delivered on time and within Budget.
  • End Result - Improved commonality of financial reporting is within sight.
