Community

Philanthropy

EI invests significant resources to advance education, strengthen communities and improve lives. Through philanthropic initiatives and collaboration, EI supports projects that create opportunities, make connections and address community needs where we — and our customers — live and work.
Historically, supporting education has been a major focus for EI, and education today continues to be our key philanthropic focus. We are driven to help students succeed — in school, in the workforce and in life.
Engaging employees
United Way/Employee Giving Campaign
Our employees are an invaluable part of our citizenship and sustainability efforts, and the annual EI United Way/Employee Giving Campaign highlights our employees' deep spirit of giving. Along with signing up for one-time or regular contributions, employees also raised money for various nonprofits through a variety of means — golf outings and auctions.
Volunteerism
Volunteerism is ingrained in EI 's culture. Since the founding of the company, we have been donating our time and talents to support underserved populations and strengthen our communities. Each year our employees are encouraged to take time to participate in the enhancement of their communities
Volunteerism continues to be a key component of EI, with employees finding new ways to engage and impact youth.
Whether coaching and mentoring boy and girls through scouting, Pop Warner, The First Tee, Babe Ruth, Wrestling, LAX raising fund for Jerry’s Kids, or participating in Wounded Warrior events, our employees present their favorite nonprofit volunteer project or activity, and then rally other employees to participate as well.
Our dedicated employees, who have invested countless volunteer hours, are recognized for their extraordinary, effective volunteer programs that are helping to improve local communities.
Diversity Management
At EI, we know our success begins with our people. That's why we invest so much in them — making sure they have opportunities to learn and grow in an inclusive environment and see how they contribute to the company's success.
By ensuring that we always have a diverse workforce, we know we better understand the diverse needs of our customers and are better able to design, communicate and deliver products and services that meet and exceed their needs.
Workforce Inclusion
EI ’s history of innovation is a story about people from all walks of life and all kinds of backgrounds coming together to improve the human condition. It is our diversity, coupled with an inclusive culture that welcomes all points of view – which makes us who we are: a great place to work, a desired business partner and a committed member of the communities we serve. This welcoming culture is something we live and breathe every day; our employees expect it and our customers benefit from it.
Community Impact
At EI our employees have long understood a basic fact: We do not simply support our communities; we are members of them. That’s why since our formation we have helped shape those communities though our philanthropic efforts. Through volunteerism and giving, we make a difference.
"A diverse workforce and inclusive culture are essential to EI . Allowing us to attract and retain the best and the brightest to develop the most innovative service delivery models and solutions to meet our changing customers' needs." John R Crocker, Managing Partner, Enterprise Iron.

Supporting our people
Our people have helped make us one of the leading financial services, retirement and pension consulting companies in the market place, and in return, we strive to be the industry's employer of choice. We're investing in our people by creating and preserving high-tech jobs that pay well, offer superior benefits and provide opportunities for training and advancement.
Good wages, superior benefits
Talented, dedicated people are key to our company's success. We offer competitive pay and benefits to attract and retain a highly qualified workforce. We provide health insurance, life insurance and disability insurance coverage.
EI offers some of the most competitive benefits in the industry for our U.S.-based employees.
In addition to medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, EI remains committed to helping employees plan for their retirement future. Through various vehicles — including 401(k) and employee savings plans  — employees have the opportunity to save toward retirement at a time when many companies are eliminating pension and savings plans.
For many employees, we offer flexible spending accounts, health reimbursement accounts, and/or health savings accounts that allow employees to pay for out-of-pocket health care and dependent care costs with funds not subject to federal taxes.
We offer a broad selection of benefits geared toward certain life events, including adoption, tuition aid, long-term care and the treatment of certain investigational medical conditions not covered by traditional health plans.
Good corporate governance
Code of Business Conduct
EI 's Code of Business Conduct ("CoBC") puts our values into action across the entire organization. It's more than a set of rules — it's the standard by which we work and a guide to help us make the right decisions every day.
The CoBC addresses common ethical and compliance issues, covering a range of topics including diversity and non-discrimination, conflicts of interest, customer and employee data privacy, and our commitment to the environment. In addition, we maintain an easy-to-use Web site that provides policies and general guidance around key CoBC issues. Each employee — from our part-time workers to our chairman — is responsible for reviewing the CoBC and understanding its provisions.
In 2010, we accomplished a better than 99.5 percent completion rate on our CoBC training. In addition, we also target compliance training on particular topics to appropriate groups of employees to improve their understanding of our commitments. These training courses include: the Fair Labor Standards Act, records management, sexual harassment, privacy and a variety of Environment, Health & Safety courses.
We analyze trends from our CoBC violation reports in order to decide whether to introduce training or additional communications about a particular area. Our training, which is mostly Web-based, involves hypothetical compliance situations and other techniques to get employees fully engaged in the learning process.
In addition, we require documentation of ethical and compliant behavior in our managers' annual appraisals.
Employees who seek guidance or wish to raise a CoBC concern have a variety of available resources.
We also have a separate Code of Ethics that not only applies to employees, but also applies to our directors, partners and founders. The Code of Ethics emphasizes the need to deal honestly and ethically, to avoid conflicts of interest.
Compliance
EI offers many resources to employees who have questions about the laws, regulations and policies affecting our business. In addition to upholding our CoBC and policy Web site (TriNet), our Corporate Compliance organization seeks to maintain an open dialogue about compliance issues.
Our Corporate Compliance Program focuses on key compliance risks. The Corporate Compliance organization works with each business unit on an ongoing basis to ensure that the proper activities are in place to operate our business with the utmost integrity. The process includes an annual risk assessment reported to the Compliance Oversight Committee and the Audit Committee of the Board, which oversees the Corporate Compliance Program.
To further emphasize key policies, the Corporate Compliance organization implemented a new tool that exposes targeted audiences of employees to key policies by sending them an email with a link to the policy.
Political Contributions
EI complies with all applicable laws concerning political contributions. Political contributions, where permitted, are an important part of the political process.
